Adele Named one of "Time" Magazine's "People Who Mattered" in 2011
What do Adele, President Barack Obama, Hilary Clinton, Herman Cain and Charlie Sheen have in common? They all made Time magazine’s list of of "People Who Mattered" in 2011. Adele is the only musician to make the magazine’s list this year — Time says Adele has “a voice so nuanced that it can switch from light and sweet to raw and booming with just one note,” and says her album 21 “ranks alongside Fleetwood Mac's Rumours as one of the greatest lovesick records of all time.”
21 also topped Time magazine’s list of the Top 10 Albums of the Year. The mag described the best-selling disc as “Songs of solace for the lovelorn, whether you’re the dumper or the dumpee.” But amazingly, Adele’s song “Rolling in the Deep” isn’t Time’s #1 Song of the Year — it’s #2. The mag’s #1 song was “No Light, No Light,” by Florence + the Machine. Also among Time’s Top 10 Songs of 2011: “Otis” by Jay-Z and Kanye West,”Super Bass” by Nicki Minaj and “Pumped Up Kicks” by Foster the People.
